What to Expect at Your First Appointment
On the day of your first appointment, you will start in a private room with Alix, where she will listen and ask questions to better understand your medical history and story of why you are here. After that she will do a comprehensive evaluation of all body parts that may play a role in your symptoms. Depending on why you are here, she will go more in-depth with different types of assessments that can help her find the root cause and best treatments for you. It is always important to communicate if anything is painful, uncomfortable, or you are feeling confused about the course of the evaluation. After this, she will discuss findings and create a treatment plan that will best suit your needs and lifestyle. It is best to wear comfortable and loose fitting clothing.

If you are ready to continue, we will do the internal examination of your pelvic floor. It is important to remember that you are always in control and we can stop the examination at any point. Alix will leave the room as you undress waist down and lie on the table. With a gloved hand she will test the strength, mobility, tension, and muscle activation patterns of the pelvic floor muscles. No tools are used to do this. After this, you will dress again and we will discuss the findings.

After this a quieter assessment will be done with the intention of listening to the body and the organs. There is an inherent motion of each organ that can be evaluated for dysfunction. Furthermore, how these organs interact with each other or other parts of the body can be palpated.

After this a quiet assessment will be done with the intention of listening to the movement of the cranial bones, cerebrospinal fluid, and related nerves. Gentle palpation will be used to assess the connective tissue around these structures to ascertain any dysfunction in this system.
